Professional optical care training for medical students from Mozambique in Tanzania

In Tanzania, we support a project promoting eye health in co-operation with "Light for the world", an international professional organisation campaigning for eye patients, the blind and people with other disabilities in poverty-stricken regions around the world.

Before our work commenced there, this south-east African country had a mere seven eye doctors for a population of 25 million, none of whom were outside the capital of Maputo.

The Peter und Luise Hager Foundation supports the professional training of four medical students from Mozambique in the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center, Tanzania. After their training, they will be able to carry out ophthalmological treatments in rural areas of their country.
