Students and teachers at the Lycée Louis Marchal provide aid in Laos

There are a lot of kilometres between a town in eastern France and a small village in Laos. Yet, this small Laotian village is precisely where students from the school Lycée Louis Marchal in Molsheim headed off to.

During an overseas project in October 2011, students and teachers at this technical-commercial school installed street lights in a small village in Laos. The lights are battery-powered by a photovoltaic module producing electricity in order to illuminate parts of the village for several hours at a time.

Two years later, the project was continued and additional photovoltaic modules put into operation which have been powering ventilators and refrigerators ever since.

A cross-border youth project bringing together young people from two very different cultures.
